Have you ever known a holocaust denier? How did you feel about them?
by Esse quam videri ini sometimes did work for a lovely old couple who at times needed repairs done around their home.
my wife and myself spent time with them, having tea and crackers from time to time.
one day the husband and myself got into a conversation and he clearly showed himself to be a holocaust denier.

Thank you David_Jay for your comments.
I find it interesting how a simple question that just pops into mind can lead to posts expanding on the subject to such a degree. The life stories of so many on this forum are absorbing and fascinating. Thanks to all.

It wasn't Farben by any chance was it? IG Farber was a major user of Jewish slave labour from Auswitch during the war.
It was Thyssen. Lot's of creepy things found when you turn over that rock. Apparently Bush's grandpa made his fortune from the Nazi's with Thyssen involvment. You need a strong stomach when you start researching companies like Thyssen, Krupp, Bayer, Nestle' [that's right] etc. and let's not forget Ford, Standard Oil and IBM.

Justice catches up with 101-year-old paedophile. Not a JW but.....
by pleaseresearch inwas in the car listening to the radio of a 101 year old pedophile.
i loved the detective who spoke and said "the day that not prosecuting someone who hurts a child is not in the public interest, we may as well all just pack up and go home.".
this makes me feel sick to my stomach even more at what the australian royal commission investigated.. .

It is hoped that one day, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but one day justice will come knocking on the door of everyone who really deserves it, no matter how old they are.

I sometimes did work for a lovely old couple who at times needed repairs done around their home. My wife and myself spent time with them, having tea and crackers from time to time. One day the husband and myself got into a conversation and he clearly showed himself to be a holocaust denier. It was upsetting to hear this from the mouth of someone I liked. I quickly changed the way I thought about him and as time went on I couldn't stand the thought of being in his presence. I did some research on his last name and it was the same as a family owning a major German industrial corporation involved in all kinds of war manufacturing during the Nazi era. Maybe just a coincidence, maybe he was a relative, maybe a former SS. Who knows? But the thoughts do run through your mind.
If you know or knew a holocaust denier, how did you feel about them?

I was talking to one of my customers about the newly replaced Kingdom Hall on Westminster Highway in Richmond, B.C. She does not know I used to be a Witness. She was telling me how the labour is all donated and they only pay for the materials. I suggested that they do not really own the Kingdom Hall, but rather, it is owned by the Society. She said "...technically the Landsdowne Congregation owns it..." What is that supposed to mean? I did not get into it. Does the congregation have documents proving their ownership or is this just in her mind, thinking, ".. it's our Kingdom Hall, we must own it.."?

"It is the victims right to approach authorities" The weak excuse used by the society
by stuckinarut2 inwe have seen that the society falls back on the line "it is the victims right to approach the authorities" during all the abuse claims.. they use this excuse to try and defend the passive lack of action in failing to report suspected cases of abuse.. a comparison came to mind:.
if we came across a person lying in the street who says they were hit by a car, would we say "it is your absolute right to call the paramedics and police"?.
or would we take the initiative and call those authorities ourselves to help the person?.

A while back there was a break in to a house next door to our KH. The police came with 5 min to the start of the midweek meeting to see if the cameras from the hall may have caught a glimpse of the perpetrators. The elders dropped everything and began retrieving videos with this exaggerated sense of duty in their faces.
I imagine they would be just as eager if the police were seeking video of a child molestation at the KH. Maybe not. Probably tell the police we have to call New York for direction.

Changed Wording in February 2017 WT Article
by Ding inthe february 2017 wt had stated that the gb is "neither inspired nor infallible" and that it can make errors in doctrine.. the language of the online wt issue now says, “the governing body is neither inspired nor perfect.
therefore, it can make mistakes when explaining the bible or directing the organization.”.
why the change?

The word 'perfect' is easier to digest. Used a millions times and easily blends in with their thinking. Infallible is not 'WT speak'. Perhaps they now have a proofreader. Maybe they just like throwing in changes, new light. Maybe it is all planned ahead of time. Who knows?
